We are pleased to welcome Jessica Thaxton, PhD, MsCR, Associate Professor in the Department of Cell Biology and Physiology at the The University of North Carolina at Chapel Hill and Principal Investigator at the UNC Lineberger Comprehensive Cancer Center, as a Keynote Speaker at the International Conference on Cell Biology (C-BIO 2026).

Valencia, Spain | December 2–4, 2026

This keynote will examine how cellular stress pathways within the tumor microenvironment impair immune cell function and contribute to immune failure in cancer. The talk will highlight mechanisms linking stress signaling, metabolism, and immune dysfunction, and how these insights can inform new immunotherapeutic strategies.

Dr. Thaxton leads a translational tumor immunotherapy research program focused on bridging mechanistic discoveries with clinical application. Her work integrates cell biology, immunology, and oncology to better understand how tumors evade immune responses. Through collaborations with basic scientists and clinical oncologists, her research advances innovative therapeutic approaches for cancer patients.

The Thaxton lab investigates how abnormal cell stress signaling and metabolic reprogramming affect immune cells in cancer. Her team studies how the tumor microenvironment shapes immune dysfunction and explores strategies to restore effective anti-tumor immunity. Their work spans from fundamental cellular mechanisms to the development of novel immunotherapies and clinical translation, supported by interdisciplinary collaborations across basic, medical, and surgical oncology.

Join us at C-BIO 2026 to explore how stress biology and immune regulation intersect to shape the future of cancer immunotherapy.
