Speaker Announcement

We are pleased to announce Dr. Tim Barnett, Head of Strep A Pathogenesis and Diagnostics at Telethon Kids Institute, as a featured speaker at the Global Virtual Streptococcus Research Symposium, to be held online on April 27–28, 2026.

Dr. Barnett’s presentation will highlight recent advances in understanding the biological and immunological factors that contribute to relapse infections caused by Group A Streptococcus. Emphasis will be placed on mechanisms of persistence, immune evasion, and diagnostic challenges, with implications for improved clinical management and prevention strategies.

Dr. Timothy Barnett is an internationally recognized leader in Group A streptococcal research, with expertise spanning bacterial pathogenesis, host–pathogen interactions, and diagnostic development. His work at The Kids Research Institute Australia integrates fundamental microbiology with translational approaches aimed at reducing the global burden of Strep A disease.
