Can extracellular vesicles help us detect, monitor, and even treat neurodegenerative diseases? As our understanding of intercellular communication grows, these tiny biological messengers are emerging as powerful tools for studying neurological disorders and developing new therapeutic strategies.

We are delighted to welcome Dr. Magdalena Lorenowicz, Head of the Advanced In Vitro Model Systems Department at the Biomedical Primate Research Centre, The Netherlands, as a speaker at the International Conference on Cell Biology (C-BIO 2026).

Valencia, Spain | December 2–4, 2026

This presentation will explore the expanding role of extracellular vesicles (EVs) in neurodegenerative diseases, with a particular focus on their potential as biomarkers and therapeutic agents. The talk will also discuss how virus-induced neurological disorders influence EV-mediated cellular communication, providing new perspectives on disease mechanisms and translational applications.

Dr. Lorenowicz leads the Advanced In Vitro Model Systems Department at the Biomedical Primate Research Centre, where she develops innovative human-relevant experimental models to study infectious diseases and neurological disorders. Her research combines cell biology, virology, and advanced model systems to investigate host–pathogen interactions and mechanisms of neurodegeneration.

Her laboratory investigates extracellular vesicle biology, virus-induced neurological disease, and advanced in vitro model systems that replicate human tissue physiology. Current research explores how EVs mediate intercellular communication during infection and neurodegeneration, with the goal of identifying novel biomarkers and developing EV-based therapeutic strategies for neurological diseases.

Join us at C-BIO 2026 to learn how extracellular vesicles and advanced cellular models are shaping the future of neurodegeneration research and precision therapeutics.
