We are pleased to welcome Dr. Li-av Segev-Zarko, Assistant Professor in the Department of Biochemistry & Molecular Biology at The University of Texas Medical Branch, as a featured speaker at the International Virtual Conference on Advances in Toxoplasmosis Research.

Dr. Segev Zarko’s research focuses on the cell biology of apicomplexan parasites, with particular emphasis on the structure, dynamics, and regulation of the apical complex, an essential organellar system that enables Toxoplasma gondii to invade host cells. Her laboratory integrates advanced microscopy, molecular genetics, and biochemical approaches to uncover how apical structures are assembled and remodeled during the parasite life cycle.

In this talk, she will present recent findings revealing how Toxoplasma reorganizes its apical complex to prime invasion, offering new insights into parasite motility, host cell entry, and potential intervention strategies. Join the meeting to learn how dynamic apical remodeling drives parasite infectivity.
