Prof. Isidoro’s keynote will explore the critical role of lysosomal proteolytic pathways in tumor development and progression. The presentation will discuss how lysosomal function influences cancer cell survival, invasion, metabolic adaptation, and therapeutic resistance, highlighting its potential as a target for new treatment strategies.
Prof. Isidoro is internationally recognized for his contributions to cell pathology, cancer biology, and autophagy research. Over his academic career, he has made significant advances in understanding intracellular degradation systems and their role in disease progression, particularly in cancer and cellular stress responses.
His current research investigates the role of lysosomes, autophagy, and proteolytic signaling pathways in cancer biology. His laboratory focuses on how tumor cells exploit lysosomal pathways to support growth, survival, invasion, and adaptation to hostile microenvironments, with the goal of identifying new biomarkers and therapeutic opportunities.
