We are delighted to announce that Daniel dos Santos, Assistant Researcher at CBIOS – Research Center for Biosciences & Health Technologies – Universidade Lusófona – Centro Universitário Lisboa and invited researcher at iMed.ULisboa, will deliver a keynote lecture at the SustainNatural – 2026 – Safe and Sustainable Natural Products and Climate-Resilient Innovations Conference, taking place from November 23–25, 2026 in Prague, Czech Republic.
His keynote, titled – From Nature to Computation: Integrating Natural Products Chemistry with In Silico Drug Discovery and Design, will explore how natural products research can be synergistically combined with computational tools to accelerate drug discovery. The talk will highlight the integration of phytochemical data with in silico modeling, molecular docking, and predictive analytics to identify and optimize bioactive compounds for pharmaceutical applications.
Dr. dos Santos’ current research focuses on bridging natural products chemistry with computational drug design. Daniel is developing his research line at CBIOS centered on multidrug resistance (MDR)/ABC transporters and has participated in four recently concluded FCT-funded projects as leader of computational modeling tasks, supporting this research line through grants and conference initiatives. He has managed four projects as Co-Principal Investigator (MDR, cystic fibrosis, mFAOD), led the computational team in another project (MDM2/X-p53), and managed six supercomputer projects within the National HPC infrastructure (three as PI and three as Co-PI). At present, he manages or contributes to four funded projects supported by FCT and ILIND/COFAC. His broader work also includes virtual screening of plant-derived compounds, structure-based drug design, bioactivity prediction, and the application of cheminformatics and molecular modeling to advance sustainable drug discovery pipelines.
Dr. Daniel dos Santos is an emerging researcher recognized for his interdisciplinary contributions at the interface of natural products and computational chemistry. Through his roles at CBIOS/Lusófona University and iMed ULisboa, he is actively advancing innovative strategies that connect natural compounds with modern in silico approaches for drug discovery and development.
