Can cancer cells acquire new abilities by exchanging organelles or even fusing with neighboring cells? Emerging evidence suggests that these processes contribute to tumor plasticity, enabling pancreatic cancer to adapt, spread, and resist therapy.
We are delighted to welcome Dr. Enza Lonardo, Head of the Gastrointestinal Cancer Laboratory at the Institute of Genetics and Biophysics, Italy, as a speaker at the International Conference on Cell Biology (C-BIO 2026).
Valencia, Spain | December 2–4, 2026

This presentation will explore how organelle transfer and cell fusion contribute to the remarkable adaptability of pancreatic cancer cells. Dr. Lonardo will discuss how these mechanisms drive hybrid cellular states, tumor progression, metastasis, and therapeutic resistance, offering new perspectives on pancreatic cancer biology and potential therapeutic interventions.
Dr. Lonardo leads the Gastrointestinal Cancer Laboratory at the Institute of Genetics and Biophysics, where she investigates the cellular and molecular mechanisms underlying pancreatic cancer initiation and progression. Her research has contributed to understanding cancer stem cells, tumor heterogeneity, and the dynamic interactions within the tumor microenvironment.
Her laboratory focuses on pancreatic cancer biology, cancer stem cells, organelle transfer, cell fusion, and tumor plasticity. By integrating molecular biology, advanced imaging, and experimental models, her team seeks to uncover how cellular communication and hybrid cell formation influence disease progression and identify new opportunities for targeted therapies.
Join us at C-BIO 2026 to discover how organelle transfer and cell fusion are reshaping our understanding of pancreatic cancer and revealing new avenues for precision oncology.
