We are pleased to welcome Dr. Ewa A. Grzybowska, Principal Investigator at the Maria Sklodowska-Curie National Research Institute of Oncology, Warsaw, Poland, as a speaker at the International Conference on Cell Biology (C-BIO 2026).
Valencia, Spain | December 2–4, 2026
This presentation will explore the cellular mechanisms governing entosis, a unique form of cell death in which one living cell becomes internalized by another. The talk will focus on how downregulation of the HAX1 protein alters cell adhesion and contractility, triggering entotic processes within epithelial monolayers and providing new insights into cell competition, tissue homeostasis, and cancer biology.
Dr. Grzybowska is a molecular and cellular biologist with extensive expertise in cancer biology, gene regulation, and tumor progression. Her research has contributed to understanding how alterations in cellular signaling and adhesion influence disease development and therapeutic responses. At the National Research Institute of Oncology, she leads studies investigating the molecular mechanisms underlying cancer initiation and progression.
Her laboratory focuses on the role of HAX1 and related regulatory proteins in controlling cell survival, migration, adhesion, and cell death pathways. Current work investigates how mechanical and molecular changes within epithelial tissues influence entosis and other non-apoptotic forms of cell death, with implications for tumor evolution, metastasis, and therapeutic targeting.
Join us at C-BIO 2026 to learn how emerging discoveries in cell adhesion, mechanobiology, and cell death are advancing our understanding of cancer and tissue biology.
