Speaker Announcement
We are pleased to announce Dr. Sven Hammerschmidt, Professor in the Department of Molecular Genetics and Infection Biology at the Universität Greifswald, Germany, as a confirmed speaker at the Global Virtual Streptococcus Research Symposium, to be held online on April 27–28, 2026.
This presentation will address recent advances in understanding how Streptococcus pneumoniae interacts with host tissues at mucosal surfaces and during the transition from asymptomatic colonization to invasive disease. Emphasis will be placed on molecular mechanisms governing host–pathogen cross-talk, immune modulation, and determinants of pneumococcal pathogenicity.
Prof. Sven Hammerschmidt is an internationally recognized expert in pneumococcal biology, with a research focus on bacterial adhesion, colonization, immune evasion, and host–pathogen interactions. His work has made significant contributions to defining molecular mechanisms underlying pneumococcal disease and has broad implications for prevention and therapeutic intervention strategies.
Dates: April 27–28, 2026
Format: Virtual – Eastern Time (US)
This conference is organized by Impact Research Communications (IRC)
