Dr. Jeroen Saeij, PhD

We are pleased to welcome Dr. Jeroen Saeij, PhD, Professor of Pathology, Microbiology & Immunology at the University of California, Davis School of Veterinary Medicine, as a featured speaker at the International Virtual Conference on Advances in Toxoplasmosis Research.

Prof. Saeij’s research focuses on host–pathogen interactions in Toxoplasma gondii, with particular emphasis on how the human immune system detects and responds to infection. His work has been instrumental in uncovering primate-specific immune mechanisms, including specialized T cell subsets that shape innate immune recognition and influence disease outcomes.

In this talk, Prof. Jeroen Saeij will highlight how a primate-restricted T cell population enables early detection of Toxoplasma gondii through immune mechanisms absent in standard animal models.

Join the meeting to learn how these human-specific mechanisms reshape our understanding of innate immunity and inform translational strategies for toxoplasmosis research.
