Speaker Announcement | Schistosoma-2026

We are pleased to feature Susannah Colt, PhD, Adjunct Assistant Professor of Biology in the Division of Biology and Medicine at Brown University, Rhode Island, as a distinguished speaker at the II Global Virtual Symposium on Schistosomiasis.

June 2, 2026
Online | Eastern Time (US & Canada)

Susannah Colt is a clinical researcher and global health scientist whose work focuses on improving treatment strategies for neglected tropical diseases, with particular emphasis on pediatric schistosomiasis. Her research integrates clinical trials, epidemiology, and implementation science to address critical evidence gaps in vulnerable and often overlooked populations.

Her current research examines the safety, efficacy, and optimal dosing of praziquantel in preschool-aged children, a population historically underrepresented in schistosomiasis treatment studies. Through randomized controlled trials, her work evaluates treatment outcomes, infection clearance, morbidity reduction, and developmental health indicators, generating evidence that can directly inform treatment guidelines and public health policy.

In this presentation, she will share new findings from randomized controlled trials assessing praziquantel treatment in young children, offering important insights into optimizing early intervention strategies and reducing long-term disease burden in endemic communities.

Join us for an important discussion on pediatric treatment, clinical research, and advancing equitable care in global health.

Stay tuned for more speaker announcements and program updates!
