We are pleased to welcome Puran Sijwali, PhD, Scientist at the CSIR – Centre for Cellular and Molecular Biology, as a featured speaker at the International Virtual Conference on Advances in Toxoplasmosis Research.
Dr. Sijwali’s research focuses on the molecular and cellular biology of apicomplexan parasites, with particular emphasis on organelle biogenesis, membrane dynamics, and protein trafficking pathways essential for parasite survival and virulence. His work integrates biochemical, genetic, and cell biological approaches to understand how intracellular parasites assemble and maintain specialized secretory systems.
In this talk, Dr. Sijwali will present new findings demonstrating how an endoplasmic reticulum (ER)-resident lipid scramblase regulates membrane organization required for the formation and function of secretory organelles in apicomplexan parasites. These insights reveal critical mechanisms underlying parasite invasion and host interaction.
