An insightful presentation by Puja Kumari Agnivesh on “Investigating the Interplay Between MmpL3 Mediated Transport Disruption and ATP Synthase Inhibition in Mycobacterium tuberculosis Survival.”
Puja Kumari Agnivesh is a PhD Research Scholar in the Department of Pharmacology and Toxicology at the National Institute of Pharmaceutical Education and Research (NIPER), Hyderabad, working under the guidance of Dr. Nitin Pal Kalia.
Her research is focused on tuberculosis drug discovery and mycobacterial biology, with published work examining targets and mechanisms relevant to the development of new approaches against Mycobacterium tuberculosis. Her research includes studies involving MmpL3, a transporter associated with mycobacterial cell-envelope processes, as well as investigations of bioenergetic pathways and potential combination strategies in TB drug discovery.
Her presentation explores the interplay between MmpL3-mediated transport disruption and ATP synthase inhibition in relation to M. tuberculosis survival. The topic brings together two important areas of TB research: disruption of essential mycobacterial transport processes and interference with bacterial energy metabolism.
The presentation is part of Session II — Drug Resistance Mechanisms and Antibiotic Discovery (ECRs), chaired by Dr. Nupur Angrish of Birkbeck, University of London.
