Speaker Announcement | 2nd International Virtual Conference on Staphylococci and Staphylococcal Infections
We are pleased to welcome Dr. Megan Kiedrowski, Assistant Professor in the Division of Pulmonary, Allergy and Critical Care, Department of Medicine, University of Alabama at Birmingham (AL, USA), as an invited speaker at the 2nd International Virtual Conference on Staphylococci and Staphylococcal Infections.
Dr. Kiedrowski will present current research uncovering how host-derived factors and bacterial mechanisms jointly regulate Staphylococcus aureus aggregation in the airway environment. Her talk will highlight how aggregation influences colonization, immune interactions, and disease progression, with important implications for chronic airway infections and treatment strategies.
Dr. Kiedrowski’s research focuses on host–pathogen interactions in the respiratory tract, with particular emphasis on how airway conditions shape S. aureus behavior during colonization and infection. Using a combination of microbiology, cell biology, and clinically relevant airway models, her work aims to identify mechanisms that drive persistence and inflammation in pulmonary disease.
