We are pleased to welcome Dr. Lamba Omar Sangare, Assistant Professor in the Department of Biology at Texas A&M University, as a featured speaker at the International Virtual Conference on Advances in Toxoplasmosis Research.
Dr. Sangaré is an emerging leader in parasitology and maternal–fetal infection whose research focuses on how Toxoplasma gondii breaches the placental barrier to establish congenital infection. His laboratory integrates cell biology, infection models, and advanced imaging to dissect parasite strategies for interacting with placental cells and evading host defenses.
In this talk, Dr. Sangaré will present recent discoveries revealing the cellular and molecular mechanisms that enable Toxoplasma to cross the placental barrier, offering critical insights into vertical transmission, fetal protection, and the pathogenesis of congenital toxoplasmosis. Join the meeting to learn how understanding placental invasion may inform strategies to prevent infection during pregnancy.
