Dr. Klaus Pantel, MD

Presentation: Liquid Biopsy 2026: State-of-the-Art

As one of the pioneers of the liquid biopsy field, Prof. Klaus Pantel has played a defining role in transforming cancer diagnostics through his groundbreaking work on circulating tumour cells (CTCs) and circulating tumour DNA (ctDNA). His research has helped establish liquid biopsy as a cornerstone of modern precision medicine, enabling clinicians to monitor cancer through minimally invasive blood-based testing.

In this plenary lecture, Prof. Pantel presents a comprehensive overview of the current state of liquid biopsy, highlighting recent scientific breakthroughs, emerging technologies, and the growing clinical impact of this rapidly evolving field. The session explores how liquid biopsy is reshaping cancer care through:

• Earlier cancer detection
• Minimal residual disease (MRD) assessment
• Real-time treatment monitoring
• Detection of therapy resistance
• Personalised treatment selection using molecular biomarkers

His presentation also provides valuable insights into the challenges and future opportunities for integrating liquid biopsy into routine clinical practice, bringing us closer to more precise, patient-centred cancer care.

We extend our sincere appreciation to Prof. Klaus Pantel for sharing his expertise and to the global scientific community participating in today’s symposium. Your contributions continue to drive innovation, collaboration, and progress in precision oncology.
