🔴 Day 2 Live Update

An insightful presentation by Dr. Johannes Nemeth on “Effects of MTB Infection on the Host.”

Dr. Nemeth is an Attending Physician in the Department of Infectious Diseases and Hospital Epidemiology at University Hospital Zurich, Switzerland. His specialties include tuberculosis, HIV and bacterial infections, while his research focuses on the immune response during Mycobacterium tuberculosis infection and disease.

His research explores how M. tuberculosis interacts with the host immune system and how these interactions influence infection and disease. His work includes investigating the innate immune response, myeloid cells and the persistence of M. tuberculosis, as well as the relationship between tuberculosis and HIV infection.

Recent research involving Dr. Nemeth has examined how M. tuberculosis infection affects immune and transcriptional responses in people living with HIV, providing further insight into the complex interaction between the pathogen and the host immune system.

The presentation brings these host–pathogen interactions into focus, highlighting the importance of understanding how tuberculosis infection affects the host and how immune responses may influence disease outcomes.

The presentation is part of Session VII: TB-HIV Co-Infection & Precision Epidemiology at Frontiers in TB & Mycobacteriology 2026.

This conference is organized by Impact Research Communications (IRC)
