Dr. Esther Julián Gómez

We are delighted to announce that Dr. Esther Julián Gómez, Full Professor and Serra-Hunter Fellow in the Department of Genetics and Microbiology, Faculty of Biosciences, Universitat Autònoma de Barcelona (Spain), will be a featured speaker at the 2nd International Virtual Conference on Frontiers in TB & Mycobacteriology.

In this presentation, Prof. Gomez will discuss how the structural features of mycobacterial cell-envelope molecules and derived immunomodulators drive distinct immune activation pathways. The talk will highlight recent advances from her group in identifying structure–function relationships that govern immune stimulation, tolerance, and trained immunity, and how these insights are being leveraged to optimize mycobacteria-based immunotherapies for TB and beyond. Her work provides a mechanistic framework for the rational design of next-generation immunotherapeutic agents with improved efficacy and safety.

Dr. Julian Gomez is an internationally recognized expert in mycobacterial immunology and host–pathogen interactions, with a strong focus on the use of mycobacteria and mycobacterial components as immunotherapeutic tools in cancer and infectious diseases. Her current research integrates structural biology, molecular microbiology, and immunology to decipher how specific cell-wall components and surface-exposed molecules of mycobacteria shape innate and adaptive immune responses.

Join us online on March 2–3, 2026, and be part of this global exchange at the forefront of TB and immunotherapy research.

This conference is organized by Impact Research Communications (IRC)
