Speaker Announcement | 2nd International Virtual Conference on Staphylococci and Staphylococcal Infections
We are pleased to announce Dr. Balázs Rada, Professor and Head of the Laboratory of Neutrophil Biology and Mucosal Innate Immunity at The University of Georgia, College of Veterinary Medicine, Department of Infectious Diseases (GA, USA), as an invited speaker at the 2nd International Virtual Conference on Staphylococci and Staphylococcal Infections.
Prof. Rada will present compelling new insights into how neutrophil dysfunction contributes to persistent S. aureus infections in cystic fibrosis. His talk will highlight recently uncovered cellular and molecular pathways that impair bacterial killing, offering a deeper understanding of chronic infection and inflammation in the CF airway and identifying potential targets for host-directed therapies.
Dr. Rada’s research program focuses on neutrophil biology, mucosal innate immunity, and host–pathogen interactions in chronic inflammatory diseases. His laboratory integrates immunology, microbiology, and translational disease models to uncover how innate immune defects shape susceptibility to bacterial infections. This work has broad implications for improving immune-based interventions against Staphylococcus aureus and other opportunistic pathogens in cystic fibrosis and beyond.
