We are delighted to welcome Clare Harding, PhD, Senior Lecturer in Parasitology at the University of Glasgow, as a featured speaker at the International Virtual Conference on Advances in Toxoplasmosis Research.
Dr. Harding’s research focuses on metal homeostasis and nutrient acquisition in apicomplexan parasites, with particular emphasis on how Toxoplasma gondii secures essential metals such as iron and zinc within the host environment. Her laboratory investigates the molecular transport systems and regulatory pathways that enable parasites to compete with host cells for limited micronutrients, an essential determinant of parasite survival and virulence.
In this talk, Dr. Harding will present recent advances in understanding how Toxoplasma senses, acquires, and regulates metals during infection, revealing vulnerabilities that could be exploited for therapeutic intervention. Join the meeting to learn how metal acquisition strategies shape parasite biology and disease outcomes.
