We are delighted to announce that Prof. Douglas chaves, Professor of Pharmacognosy and Head of the Department of Pharmaceutical Sciences at the Federal University of Rio de Janeiro, Brazil, will deliver a keynote lecture at SustainNatural – 2026 – Safe and Sustainable Natural Products and Climate-Resilient Innovations Conference, taking place from November 23–25, 2026 in Prague, Czech Republic.
Dr. Chaves’ keynote presentation will examine the growing role of natural products in veterinary medicine through the lens of the One Health framework. The lecture will explore the therapeutic potential of essential oils for companion animal care, highlighting sustainable, evidence-based approaches that promote animal health while supporting environmental and human wellbeing.
Prof. Chaves’ current research focuses on pharmacognosy, medicinal plants, essential oils, natural bioactive compounds, veterinary phytotherapy, and the discovery of plant-derived agents with pharmaceutical and veterinary applications. His work integrates natural product chemistry with the One Health concept, advancing sustainable solutions for both human and animal healthcare.
Prof. Douglas Siqueira Chaves is a distinguished academic and researcher with extensive expertise in pharmacognosy and pharmaceutical sciences. As Professor of Pharmacognosy and Head of the Department of Pharmaceutical Sciences at the Federal Rural University of Rio de Janeiro, he has led impactful research on medicinal plants and natural products while mentoring the next generation of scientists. His contributions continue to strengthen the scientific foundations of veterinary pharmacognosy and sustainable natural product research.
