We are pleased to welcome Dr. Maike Busch, Professor and Head of Laboratory at University Hospital Essen, University of Duisburg-Essen, Germany, as a speaker at the International Conference on Cell Biology (C-BIO 2026).

Prof. Busch will highlight the development of novel liquid biopsy strategies based on Trefoil Factor Family Peptide 1 (TFF1) for the diagnosis and monitoring of retinoblastoma. The talk will discuss how minimally invasive biomarker approaches can support earlier detection, disease monitoring, and personalized management of pediatric ocular cancers.
Dr. Busch is an accomplished molecular biologist whose research focuses on translational cancer biology, tumor biomarkers, and innovative diagnostic approaches. Her work has contributed to advancing the understanding of molecular mechanisms underlying cancer development and the identification of clinically relevant biomarkers for improved patient care.
Her laboratory investigates molecular biomarkers and liquid biopsy technologies for cancer diagnosis and prognosis, with a particular emphasis on retinoblastoma and other pediatric malignancies. Current research explores the role of TFF1 as a diagnostic and prognostic marker, aiming to develop non-invasive tools that can improve disease detection, treatment monitoring, and clinical decision-making.
