We are delighted to announce that Prof. George Christophides will be delivering a keynote address at the 2026 Global Virtual Conference on Malaria Research, taking place online on June 29, 2026.
Dr. Christophides is a Professor of Infectious Diseases and Immunity at Imperial College London and serves as the Director of the Vector Immunogenomics and Infection Laboratory, where he leads cutting-edge research at the intersection of vector biology and infectious disease.
With an outstanding career dedicated to understanding malaria transmission, his work focuses on the genomics of mosquitoes, innate immune mechanisms, and vector–pathogen interactions that determine the ability of mosquitoes to transmit malaria parasites. His research has been instrumental in uncovering how mosquito immune systems can be leveraged to block parasite development.
Currently, Prof. Christophides is advancing innovative approaches in gene drive technologies for malaria elimination, exploring how genetic strategies can be used to reduce or modify mosquito populations to interrupt disease transmission at scale.
