Speaker Announcement | Schistosoma 2026
We are honored to feature Dr. Miriam Tendler, Senior Researcher and Coordinator of the Sm14 Anti-Helminth Vaccine Initiative at FIOCRUZ – FIOCRUZ – Fundação Oswaldo Cruz, Brazil, as a distinguished speaker at the II Global Virtual Symposium on Schistosomiasis.
June 2, 2026
Online | Eastern Time (US & Canada)
Dr. Tendler is an internationally recognized scientist and pioneer in helminth vaccine research, with decades of leadership in translational immunology and vaccine development. She leads the Sm14 Anti-Helminth Vaccine Initiative, one of the world’s most advanced vaccine programs targeting schistosomiasis and other helminth infections.
Her groundbreaking research focuses on the Sm14 fatty acid-binding protein (FABP) vaccine platform, designed to induce protective immunity against Schistosoma parasites. Her work has successfully advanced this vaccine candidate from molecular discovery through preclinical development, technology transfer, and international clinical evaluation.
Her current research highlights the progress of Schistovac, including its development and implementation across Brazil and Africa, with a focus on vaccine efficacy, immunogenicity, and its potential role in large-scale schistosomiasis control and elimination programs.
In this presentation, Dr. Tendler will share key scientific and translational milestones from the Sm14 vaccine program, offering insights into one of the most promising vaccine strategies in the fight against schistosomiasis.
Join us for an inspiring session on vaccine innovation, translational science, and global health impact.
