Speaker Announcement | Schistosoma 2026 Virtual

We are pleased to feature Dr. Jayhun Lee, Assistant Professor in the Department of Microbiology and Molecular Genetics at McGovern Medical School, UTHealth Houston, as a distinguished speaker at the II Global Virtual Symposium on Schistosomiasis.

June 2, 2026
Online | Eastern Time (US & Canada)

Dr. Lee is a molecular parasitologist whose research focuses on understanding the complex interactions between schistosome parasites and their human hosts. His work integrates molecular genetics, host–pathogen biology, and advanced experimental models to uncover how schistosomes develop, survive, and evade host immune responses.

His current research investigates the key host and parasite-derived factors that regulate parasite maturation and immune evasion, shedding light on mechanisms that enable chronic infection and persistence within the host. By dissecting these pathways, his work aims to identify novel targets for therapeutic intervention and vaccine development.

In this presentation, Dr. Lee will share cutting-edge insights into the molecular and immunological mechanisms governing schistosome development and host immune modulation, offering new perspectives for controlling infection and reducing disease burden.

Join us for an engaging session at the forefront of host–parasite interaction research and translational innovation.

Stay tuned for more speaker announcements and program updates!
