Speaker Announcement
We are pleased to announce Dr. Slawek Lukomski, Professor of Microbiology, Immunology & Cell Biology at the School of Medicine, West Virginia University, as a featured speaker at the Global Virtual Streptococcus Research Symposium, taking place April 27–28, 2026 (Eastern Time, USA).
Prof. Lukomski’s presentation will explore emerging insights into invasive infections caused by emm92-type Group A Streptococcus, with emphasis on mechanisms of macrolide–lincosamide–streptogramin B (MLSB) resistance and the growing clinical challenges associated with these strains. His research investigates virulence determinants, antimicrobial resistance pathways, and the development of alternative therapeutic strategies to combat invasive streptococcal disease.
Prof. Slawomir Lukomski is an internationally recognized microbiologist whose research focuses on streptococcal pathogenesis, host–pathogen interactions, and antimicrobial resistance. His work at West Virginia University integrates molecular microbiology with translational approaches aimed at improving the understanding and treatment of severe Group A streptococcal infections.
