We are pleased to announce Dr. Andrew Fenton, Lecturer in Microbial Pathogenesis, School of Biosciences at The University of Sheffield, United Kingdom, as a confirmed speaker at the Global Virtual Streptococcus Research Symposium, taking place April 27–28, 2026 (Eastern Time, USA).
Dr. Fenton’s presentation will examine emerging strategies to counteract penicillin resistance in Streptococcus pneumoniae, with emphasis on molecular mechanisms underlying altered penicillin-binding proteins, cell wall remodeling, and adaptive resistance pathways. His work integrates bacterial genetics, structural insights, and therapeutic innovation to inform next-generation antimicrobial approaches.
Dr. Andrew Fenton is a researcher in microbial pathogenesis whose work focuses on the molecular basis of bacterial virulence and antibiotic resistance. His research at The University of Sheffield explores host–pathogen interactions and resistance mechanisms in pneumococci, contributing to translational efforts aimed at improving treatment outcomes.
