We are pleased to welcome Dr. Elsa Suberbielle, researcher at INSERM in Toulouse, France, as a featured speaker at the International Virtual Conference on Advances in Toxoplasmosis Research.
Dr. Suberbielle’s research focuses on neuroimmunology and the mechanisms linking chronic infection, inflammation, and neurological dysfunction. Her work explores how persistent immune signaling in the brain influences neuronal health, synaptic function, and long-term cognitive outcomes.
In this talk, she will present emerging findings on how chronic Toxoplasma gondii infection triggers sustained IL-1–mediated signaling in neurons, driving neuro-inflammation and contributing to cognitive impairment. By connecting parasite persistence with neuronal immune responses and neurodegenerative pathways, this research provides new insight into how chronic infections may influence brain health.
