This session at the 2nd International Virtual Conference on Staphylococci and Staphylococcal Infections (February 23β24, 2026) will spotlight enzymatic pathways, metabolic regulation, and emerging therapeutic targets that shape ππ΅π’π±π©πΊππ°π€π°π€π€πΆπ΄ π’πΆπ³π¦πΆπ΄ physiology, persistence, and drug susceptibility.
Benedykt Wladyka (Jagiellonian University, Poland) will discuss peptidoglycan hydrolases as powerful anti-ππ΅π’π±π©πΊππ°π€π°π€π€πΆπ΄ π’πΆπ³π¦πΆπ΄ agents; Don Ronning (University of Nebraska Medical Center, USA) will explore how understanding π. π’πΆπ³π¦πΆπ΄ tolerance to D-cycloserine can be leveraged for novel drug discovery; and Ronan Carroll (Ohio University, USA) will present insights into the role of adenosine deaminase TadA in ππ΅π’π±π©πΊππ°π€π°π€π€πΆπ΄ π’πΆπ³π¦πΆπ΄ biology and regulation.
The session will be chaired by Emily Felton (University of South Florida), who will be guiding discussion and fostering scientific exchange on enzymatic mechanisms, metabolism, and innovative therapeutic targets.
Together, these talks provide an integrated view of how enzymatic function and metabolic control govern bacterial survival and antibiotic response, highlighting promising molecular targets for next-generation anti-staphylococcal therapies.
