Speaker Announcement | 2nd International Virtual Conference on Staphylococci and Staphylococcal Infections
We are pleased to welcome Dr. Romain Guerillot from The Peter Doherty Institute for Infection and Immunity, University of Melbourne (Australia), as an invited speaker at the 2nd International Virtual Conference on Staphylococci and Staphylococcal Infections.
Dr. Guerillot will present cutting-edge research revealing how simple sequence repeats drive rapid genetic variation and phenotypic adaptation in Staphylococcus aureus. His talk will highlight how these hypervariable regions contribute to immune evasion, persistence, and niche adaptation, offering new perspectives on the evolutionary mechanisms that enable S. aureus to thrive in diverse host environments.
Romain’s work focuses on bacterial genomics, evolution, and host adaptation, with a particular emphasis on how genome plasticity and regulatory variation shape virulence and antimicrobial tolerance. By integrating comparative genomics, population biology, and experimental models, his research is uncovering fundamental principles of S. aureus evolution that are highly relevant to infection control and therapeutic development.
