How do cells selectively remodel their membranes to remove unwanted portions of the endoplasmic reticulum?
Understanding the mechanisms behind selective ER-phagy is essential for revealing how cells maintain organelle quality and adapt to cellular stress.
We are pleased to welcome Dr. Ramachandra M Bhaskara, Group Leader in Digital Cell Biology at the FIAS – Frankfurt Institute for Advanced Studies, Germany, as a speaker at the International Conference on Cell Biology (C-BIO 2026).
Valencia, Spain | December 2–4, 2026

This presentation will explore the cellular and molecular mechanisms that drive membrane remodeling during selective ER-phagy, a specialized form of autophagy responsible for maintaining endoplasmic reticulum homeostasis. The talk will highlight how membrane dynamics, organelle architecture, and cellular signaling work together to regulate selective degradation of ER components.
Dr. Bhaskara leads research in Digital Cell Biology, combining quantitative imaging, computational approaches, and cell biology to investigate complex intracellular processes. His work focuses on understanding cellular organization and the dynamic mechanisms that maintain organelle function and homeostasis.
His research investigates ER-phagy, membrane remodeling, organelle dynamics, autophagy, and quantitative cell biology. By integrating advanced imaging with computational and multi-scale approaches, his group aims to understand how cells sense and remodel organelles in response to changing physiological conditions.
Join us at C-BIO 2026 to explore how digital and quantitative approaches are providing new insights into autophagy, membrane dynamics, and cellular homeostasis.
