We are delighted to welcome Dr. Kyle Rohde, Professor in the Division of Immunity and Pathogenesis, Burnett School of Biomedical Sciences, College of Medicine, University of Central Florida (USA), as a featured speaker at the 2nd International Virtual Conference on Frontiers in TB & Mycobacteriology.
Prof. Rohde is an internationally recognized investigator in tuberculosis and mycobacterial research, with expertise spanning microbial pathogenesis, host–pathogen interactions, and antimicrobial discovery. His laboratory integrates genetics, chemical biology, and infection models to understand how Mycobacterium tuberculosis survives in hostile host environments and how these vulnerabilities can be exploited therapeutically. His work has contributed important insights into bacterial persistence, immune evasion, and the development of compounds with activity against both replicating and dormant mycobacteria.
In this presentation, Dr. Rohde will discuss the discovery and characterization of halogenated phenazines as potent antimycobacterial agents. He will highlight their multi-faceted mechanisms of action, effectiveness against drug-tolerant populations, and why their complex mode of activity limits the emergence of resistance, offering promising directions for next-generation TB therapeutics.
