How do changes in cellular lipids influence where alpha-synuclein accumulates inside a cell?
Understanding this relationship could provide important insights into the molecular mechanisms underlying Parkinson’s disease and other neurodegenerative disorders.
We are pleased to welcome Dr. Jana Schepers, PhD, Project Lead at the University Medical Centre of Johannes Gutenberg University Mainz, Germany, as a speaker at the International Conference on Cell Biology (C-BIO 2026).
Valencia, Spain | December 2–4, 2026

This presentation will examine how changes in phosphoinositide signaling and membrane composition influence the intracellular localization of alpha-synuclein in 𝘚𝘢𝘤𝘤𝘩𝘢𝘳𝘰𝘮𝘺𝘤𝘦𝘴 𝘤𝘦𝘳𝘦𝘷𝘪𝘴𝘪𝘢𝘦. The findings provide insights into the interaction between lipid signaling, protein localization, and cellular homeostasis, with relevance to neurodegenerative disease research.
Dr. Schepers is a researcher working at the interface of cell biology, molecular biology, and disease mechanisms. Her work uses cellular models to investigate how changes in membrane-associated pathways influence protein behavior and cellular function.
Her research focuses on alpha-synuclein biology, phosphoinositide signaling, membrane dynamics, and cellular models of neurodegeneration. Using 𝘚. 𝘤𝘦𝘳𝘦𝘷𝘪𝘴𝘪𝘢𝘦 as a model system, her work aims to understand the cellular factors that regulate alpha-synuclein localization and behavior and how these mechanisms may contribute to disease.
Join us at C-BIO 2026 to explore how lipid signaling and membrane biology are helping advance our understanding of neurodegenerative disease.
