Speaker Announcement | vSchistosoma 2026

We are pleased to feature Dr. Ulrich Fabien Prodjinotho, Researcher at the Technical University of Munich (TUM) School of Medicine and Health, University of Munich, Germany, as a distinguished speaker at the II Global Virtual Symposium on Schistosomiasis.

June 2, 2026
Online | Eastern Time (US & Canada)

Dr. Prodjinotho is a parasitology and molecular biology researcher whose work focuses on uncovering the metabolic adaptations that enable schistosomes to survive, develop, and reproduce within the human host. His research combines molecular parasitology, host–parasite biology, and translational approaches to identify novel therapeutic targets against helminth infections.

His current research investigates lipid acquisition, transport, and metabolic regulation in schistosomes, exploring how these parasites exploit host-derived lipids for membrane biosynthesis, energy metabolism, and reproductive fitness. By dissecting these essential metabolic pathways, his work is revealing critical vulnerabilities that may be exploited for next-generation anti-schistosomal therapies.

In this presentation, Dr. Prodjinotho will share emerging insights into the role of lipid metabolism in parasite survival and pathogenesis, highlighting how targeting metabolic dependencies could open new avenues for drug discovery and disease control.

Join us for an exciting session at the intersection of metabolism, parasitology, and therapeutic innovation.

Stay tuned for more speaker announcements and program updates!
