Selection of Wide Spectrum Anti-Staphylococcus aureus Phages Considering the Risk of Selection of Resistance

The rapid emergence of antimicrobial resistance has renewed global interest in bacteriophage therapy as an alternative or complementary approach to conventional antibiotics. Matthieu Degreze is a pharmacist and clinical microbiology researcher whose work focuses on the therapeutic application of bacteriophages against Staphylococcus aureus. As a resident in the Bacteriology Department at Croix-Rousse Hospital and a researcher at the International Center for Infectiology Research (CIRI), he combines clinical microbiology, bacterial genomics, and experimental phage biology to investigate how bacteriophage selection and optimization can improve treatment outcomes for antibiotic-resistant infections. His research contributes to the development of evidence-based phage therapy strategies that address one of the most pressing challenges in modern infectious disease medicine.
