Speaker Announcement | 2nd International Virtual Conference on Staphylococci and Staphylococcal Infections

We are pleased to welcome Dr. Emily Felton from the University of South Florida (USA) as an invited speaker at the 2nd International Virtual Conference on Staphylococci and Staphylococcal Infections.
Dr. Felton is a postdoctoral researcher in the Shaw Lab, led by Dr. Lindsey Shaw, Professor and Associate Chair of Graduate Studies in the Department of Cell Biology, Microbiology, and Molecular Biology. Her research focuses on the evolution and population biology of Staphylococcus aureus, with particular emphasis on clinically relevant MRSA lineages. Through genomic and experimental approaches, her work provides key insights into the emergence and spread of rare hospital-associated strains.
In her presentation, Dr. Felton will share current findings on a rare hospital-associated MRSA lineage known as the “Snowbird” strain, highlighting its genomic, phenotypic, and epidemiological features. Her talk will shed light on the mechanisms underlying its persistence and clinical relevance, offering valuable perspectives on MRSA diversity, transmission, and infection control in healthcare settings.
