We are pleased to welcome Dr. Martin Blume, Scientist at the Robert Koch Institute, as a featured speaker at the International Virtual Conference on Advances in Toxoplasmosis Research.
Dr. Blume’s research focuses on the metabolic adaptations that enable Toxoplasma gondii to persist in its chronic stage as bradyzoites within tissue cysts. His work investigates how the parasite rewires its metabolic pathways to survive under nutrient-limited and stress conditions encountered during long-term infection.
In this talk, Dr. Blume will present recent findings identifying key metabolic dependencies and vulnerabilities of bradyzoites. By uncovering how chronic-stage parasites sustain energy production and cellular homeostasis, this research highlights potential metabolic targets for disrupting parasite persistence and advancing strategies to treat chronic toxoplasmosis.
